Titans record setting season finishes at 27-1

OTTAWA, OH – The 2016-17 Ottawa Glandorf Lady Titans might have had their season come to an earlier end in Columbus than they had planned, but along the way they smashed a handful of school and county records both individually and as a team.

To start the Titans broke a school record by ripping off 27 straight wins before falling in the State Semifinals to Kettering Alter. The 27 wins mark the most in program history in a single year, besting the State Runner-Up squads from the two preceding years, but also tie the Titans for the most wins in a single campaign with the 2013 Ottoville Big Green that fell in the State Semifinals themselves, and the 1988 & 89 Kalida Wildcat squads who each claimed State titles when the season came to an end.

As a team the Titans finished their season with 1542 points in 28 games played, a total that ranks them 3rd in school history for a single season and 15th all-time in Putnam County history for a single year.

Other team records:
506 made FG – 11th best single season school history
105 made 3’s – 2nd most in school history behind the 1999 team that sank 115
404 assists – 4th most in PC history (broke Ottawa Glandorf school record of 387 set by the 1994 team)
396 steals – most in team history which broke the 2014 teams total of 395 (6th most in PC history)

Individual Season accomplishments:

Kylie White finished her senior season scoring 413 points which is the 4th most in single OG season (Melanie Halker 432 points in 1995, Carmen Ellis 420 points in 1991, Sandy Buddlemeyer 416 points in 1989).

Kylie 81 made free throws on the season for the 2nd most in a Titan single season (Michelle Bockrath 90 made free throws in 1996).

Erin Kaufman broke the school single season record for made three pointers as she hit 56 during her Sophomore season and broke a record that had stood since 1999 when Rae Ann Alt hit 45. The total also marks the 8th best in PC history for a season.

Kadie Hempfling handed out 162 assists in the Titans 28 games played, the 2nd highest total in Ottawa Glandorf history, trailing only Michelle Bockrath’s 1995 total of 164. Hempfling’s total ranks 3rd most in Putnam County history behind Bockrath and Ottoville’s Meta Gerding’s 175 in the 2001 season.

Kadie Hempfling 115 steals this year is the most in OG history and the 4th highest total in Putnam County. With her 3 steals in the State Semifinals Hempfling overtook Shelly Bellman’s total of 113 during the 2005 season. This seasons total puts the WBL Co-Player of the year in the top 10 in school history for the second consecutive season as she finished with 73 during her Sophomore year.

Career records:
In just the three years aside from her Freshman year, outgoing Senior Kylie White snagged 572 rebounds which has her ending her career at 25th most Putnam County history and as the 2nd highest total in OG history trailing just her mother Sandy White who finished with 995 during her prep career. White also scored 1056 points in her career which was good enough to be the 3rd all-time leading scorer in school history as well.

Kadie Hempfling will enter her final season as a Titan with 306 career assists, the 2nd highest total in OG program history and 63 behind Michelle Bockrath’s total from 1993-96. The 306 career helpers sit the 1st Team All-Ohio selection at 8th most in county history as well.

Perhaps the most impressive number of all comes from the outgoing Senior class of Kylie White, Lexi Schroeder, Courtney Bockrath, and Devon Warnecke who leave their mark on the programs history by claiming a pair of WBL Championships, 3 trips to Columbus, and a school record 101 wins against just 10 losses.
