Wildcats clinch PCL share behind Kuhlman no-hitter

MILLER CITY, OH – A no-hitter that began a month ago at Fort Jennings finished up on Monday night at Miller City as Jacob Kuhlman earned the bid and a 2-0 victory for his team to help them clinch a share of the Putnam County League.

April 10th when the contest between the two rival schools began and before it was halted due to storms and lightning in the area in the top of the fifth inning, Kuhlman had allowed just two baserunners to reach against him, each via a full count walk.

Monday night the Wildcat right hander was simply brilliant on the hill as he struck out three Musketeer hitters to open the bottom of the fifth inning and finished the contests last three innings by striking out six of the ten hitters he would see come up to the plate threatening to end his no-hit bid.

With the win Kuhlman moves his season record to 2-1 as he tossed 7 no hit innings, striking out ten Musketeers, handing out a pair of walks and hitting just one batter.

Brandon Wehri took the loss for Fort Jennings (5-13, 0-5) as he pitched 6 innings, striking out 9 Wildcat batters and giving up just a run while surrendering seven hits.

Miller City moves to 13-4 overall and finishes Putnam County League play at 6-1 and clinches a share of the PCL championship for the fifth time in nine years under head coach Dusty Pester. The Wildcats will play a non-conference affair on Tuesday at home against McComb before beginning their tournament run at home on Thursday afternoon.

Fort Jennings will travel to Delphos to take on Ada Tuesday night to begin their run to Columbus before finishing up their regular season with a pair of games later this week and early next week against Pandora-Gilboa, and Continental.
