Titans end Bearcats season

ELIDA, OH – Spencerville’s first trip to the Districts since 2012 came to an end at Elida on Thursday night as they fell to Ottawa Glandorf 64-27.

Kaiden Grigsby gave the Bearcats their first and only lead to open the ballgame with a runner to make it 2-0 but the rest of the period would belong to the WBL Champions.

Ashley Schroeder, Carri Johnson, Erin Kaufman, Brianna Schimmoeller, and Kasey Ellerbrock all knocked down first quarter three point goals to push the OG lead to 25-6 at the end of the first eight minutes of play. Johnson was the lone Titan who hit multiple times from outside as she struck down two from behind the arc in the first.

Ottawa Glandorf senior Kadie Hempfling put her stamp on the ballgame in the third period when she sliced through the Bearcat defense for 12 of her game high 14 points to help the Titans enjoy a 30 point lead before watching the rest of the contest from the bench.

Jenna Henline, a senior who led Spencerville in three point makes this season connected on her 43rd and final attempt of the season in the third for one of her teams three field goals in the period. Moments after Henline found the bottom of the net on her triple, OG’s Paige Sutter connected on two free throws with 4:47 to go that made the game 49-14 and cued up the running clock at +35 for her team.
