ELIDA, OH – Kadie Hempfling’s game high 25 points Saturday afternoon in Elida not only led the Titans to a 55-40 victory over Crestview they also led the OG senior into the top spot in the school record book.
With a rebound and a basket in the middle of the fourth quarter for her 22nd point of the evening the future Bowling Green Falcon eclipsed the previous record of 1204 career points set by current University of Michigan assistant coach and OG standout Melanie Halker Moore that had stood since 1995. Along with the 25 points she would score on the night Kadie would also finish with a stat line that included 1 block, 5 assists, 6 steals, and 7 rebounds.

Early in the contest it was Hempfling who got OG off on the right foot in the ballgame as she accounted for all but two of her teams 13 first quarter points. The only non-Hempfling basket in the first quarter came off an assist from the All-Ohio selection to Paige Sutter who would go on to score 6 markers on the evening.
Crestview’s first half of play saw just two players in sophomore Lexi Gregory and senior and future Indiana Tech guard Paige Motycka, the NWC Player of the Year dent the scoring column.
Motycka and Gregory combined for 21 first half points and repeatedly cut into the Titans big runs on the scoreboard with makes from behind the arc. Lexi Gregory gave the Knights their first lead of the contest at 14-13 in the second period and Motycka tied the game at 19-19 before OG finished the final minutes on an 8-2 run into the break led by the Titan duo of Brianna Schimmoeller and Kasey Ellerbrock. Ellerbrock, the leading three point shooter on the season for her team knocked down a pair of three pointers just moments before Schimmoeller hit a three of her own and coupled it with a steal and score for the lead at 27-21.
Three pointers were again the story for the Knights in the second half as they would go on to represent 3 of their 6 makes from the field in the second half.
Ottawa Glandorf’s high pressure defense not only was able to force the Knights into 21 turnovers in the four quarters of play but also limit Motycka to just one point in the second half, a free throw in the third quarter.
Entering play the Titans have not set the world on fire from the free throw line. Saturday afternoon however OG finished nearly perfect on their free tosses as they sank 11 of their 14 tries to help salt away their victory.
Lexi Gregory led Crestview in scoring with 19 points and put down a three pointer in every quarter. Despite 8 of her points coming in the final eight minutes the Knights sophomore was unable to pull her team closer then 10 and saw them fall by 15 to end their 2017-18 campaign at 19-6 overall.
The Titans move to 23-2 on the season and will head to Ada’s Ohio Northern University on Tuesday night at 6:15pm for a matchup with Liberty Benton. On December 30th the two teams met in Findlay with the visiting Titans emerging victorious in comeback fashion 58-53.
With their win tonight the senior class for OG of Kadie Hempfling, Mackenzie Meyer and Carri Johnson established a new 4 year record of 102 wins and break the mark set by last seasons senior class.
